BOOK REVIEWS

Honestly, I could not put the book down because, unlike other books I have read, it was real, succinct and allowed me to really understand what it takes to come from Lake Charles but not allow those humble beginnings to determine how high you would go in life. Even though the book brought out some lows you and your family endured, I believe your faith in God and your foundational upbringing (grandmother, grandfather and mother) poured positivity into your life that washed over your family.

Additionally, because I knew you, it was enlightening to hear that despite all you and your family went through you kept your "blinders" as it related to what your goals were (i.e., retire by age 50). I have found over the course of my life that no matter who you are and what you do, life will happen to you but it is your perspective that determines the next steps.

This book is a great read, an exciting "page turner" and an overall "come to Jesus" read for anyone that has endured pain, racism, prejudice, haters and setbacks. It also, gives the reader some real-life nuggets to utilize on the road to success. No matter where you are or your past, this book shows that with hard work and determination, anyone can achieve the destiny God has for them.

Personally, I don't have many people I can truly call FRIEND (Jeff Jackson & you), but I can honestly say that I am proud of all that you and your family are doing and the blessings that continue to come your way. No matter when you and I talk you are always upbeat and have a positive word of encouragement for me.

Life is not guaranteed to be easy but I truly believe that those who are resilient and focused on what God them here for, will achieve exceedingly and abundantly more than they could imagine.

I give your book a 10 out of 10 and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to win despite their past obstacles or setbacks.

Thank you for being a real FRIEND of mine and I look forward to hearing about greater things happening for you and your family.

Respectfully,

David C. Butler

Unk,
I really like your story, the way you tell it is just really cool. Relational, motivating, honest, inspiring, and I’m proud of you. It takes a certain type of person to be as transparent as you are.

Telling the story about when TK and Patrick were born and your relationship with them was a bit emotional for me. Took me back to growing up w/o my dad. I felt emotions I haven’t felt in awhile and that’s ok. You never really hear what fatherhood is like from a man’s prospective so that was pretty cool. I strive to be a better parent because of those moments.

I learned more about grandparents. I didn’t really know them (obviously) growing up, i like learning that family history and who they were as people. Helps me understand myself a lil more.

Overall, great job! Continue to tell your story. You never know who’s listening. Love you and thanks for being my role model.

Sn: you think you know someone lol

Hey uncle first and foremost I love the book, lol, you should know that by now . I want to thank you for writing this book, and letting us know with discipline and staying focus with your goals and dreams you can do anything.

What I love from this book was how open you were about everything, and how you didn’t leave any details out from beginning to end and told the truth.

What I learn from the book was if you put your mind to anything and writing out your goals you can have everything you want just by staying focused and trusting the process everything can be yours.

I love you and I thank you for all the knowledge you have given me. I look up to you and aunt Tammie so much I just have to stay focused and determined, then everything I want will come to a reality 💕❤️

Love always your favorite niece,
